Was Clinton on the South Beach Diet?

Lots of people want to know if Clinton was on the South Beach diet. The endorsement of a celebrity or prominent politician can give a popular diet plan tremendous status, so it’s no surprise that when the rumors about Clinton on the South Beach diet surfaced, lots of people were interested.

In fact, both Clintons have been on the South Beach diet, a testament to its effectiveness. If the diet hadn’t worked so well for Bill Clinton, it’s doubtful Hillary Clinton would have decided to try it out as well.

Former President Clinton was well known for his hard and fast lifestyle while he was in the White House. He kept late hours, was under tremendous pressure, smoked heavily and indulged in his love of unhealthy, high fat foods. He was also known as a junk food junkie. When he left the White House, he was determined to get down to a healthier weight and get back into shape.

Unfortunately, not long after losing all the excess weight, Bill Clinton was hospitalized and had to undergo heart bypass surgery. While some wondered if his diet had anything to do with his health problems, the opposite is actually the case. Clinton had been indulging in an unhealthy lifestyle for years, and he simply started the South Beach diet too late. He wasn’t able to undo decades of poor eating, smoking, and his own genetic predisposition toward heart disease by simply going on a diet for a few months. Fortunately, after his surgery, the former President has kept the excess weight off with the South Beach program and continued eating healthier, so the long term effects of the South Beach diet have been positive.

Hillary Clinton on the South Beach Diet

The other famous Clinton on the South Beach diet is Hillary Clinton. When she was running for Governor, she too went on the South Beach diet to lose weight. The results were dramatic – she looked fitter, younger, and more vibrant. There’s no doubt being healthier and reaching a weight more appropriate to her height has helped Hillary Clinton, now Secretary of State, maintain her high energy level.

There have been plenty of other celebrities who have achieved their weight loss goals with the South Beach diet. Nicole Kidman and Bette Midler are two stars who have used the diet to lose weight. One of the many advantages of the South Beach diet is the rapid weight loss during Phase 1, which may be one of the things that appeals to celebrities. It’s a great way to lose those extra pounds quickly if you have a red carpet event coming up!

It’s obvious that success was achieved by Bill and Hillary Clinton on the South Beach diet. They continue to look great under the constant scrutiny of the press. If it worked for them, it can work for you.
